Captivity
Portraits made over fourteen months in Houston. A study of the rooms inside the rooms; of bodies that have learned how to be still.
Captivity began as a series of portraits and ended as a study of stillness. Each frame was made over a long sitting, often more than one — the kind of slowness that lets the subject decide how much to give. The work asks who keeps a woman still, and how she keeps herself.
