Privacy
What this site records, why, and how to opt out.
This site uses Cloudflare's Analytics Engine to record anonymous, aggregated usage statistics. No cookies are set. No personal data is stored.
What is collected, per page view
- Approximate location - country, US state or region, city, postal code, timezone, and rough latitude / longitude. All are derived by Cloudflare from your IP address. Your IP itself is not stored.
- Device and browser - desktop / tablet / mobile, browser family (Chrome,
Safari, Firefox, etc.), operating system, and the primary language your browser prefers.
All parsed from the standard
User-AgentandAccept-Languagerequest headers. - Network - the name of your Internet service provider (for example, "Comcast Cable" or "AT&T Mobility").
- Page context - the page you visited and the external website you came from, if any. Internal navigation between pages on this site is not recorded as a referrer.
What is collected during your visit
- Time on page - how long the tab was active in the foreground.
- Lightbox dwell - when you open a photograph or video in the lightbox viewer, how long you viewed it.
These engagement signals help understand which work resonates with visitors.
Unique-visitor approximation
To estimate how many distinct people visit on a given day, a one-way SHA-256 hash of (your IP address + your browser's User-Agent + today's UTC date + a server-side secret) is recorded. This hash:
- cannot be reversed back to your IP address,
- rotates every 24 hours - so cross-day tracking is impossible,
- is the only identifier-like value stored.
What is not collected
- No cookies, localStorage, or other persistent identifiers.
- No browser fingerprinting (canvas, fonts, audio).
- No mouse movement, scroll tracking, or session replay.
- No raw IP addresses at rest.
- No data shared with third parties beyond Cloudflare, our hosting provider.
How to opt out of engagement tracking
This site honors Global Privacy Control
(navigator.globalPrivacyControl) - the current opt-out standard, sent
automatically by Firefox, Brave, DuckDuckGo, and several privacy-focused extensions. If
your browser sends it, the in-page engagement beacon is disabled and no time-on-page or
lightbox-dwell events are recorded.
Safari users: Safari does not send Global Privacy Control. If you use Safari and would like engagement tracking disabled, you can install a privacy extension that sends Global Privacy Control, or contact us at the email below.
Server-side page-view records (country / state / city / device) are based on standard request metadata and cannot be opted out of without blocking the request entirely (for example, via a browser extension that blocks Cloudflare).
